Michał Spisak Festival

The Michał Spisak International Festival is an event that evolved from the Michał Spisak International Music Competition, held annually from 2007 to 2018. In 2021, the initiative was revived in an expanded festival format—featuring numerous cultural events whose themes are inspired primarily by music and the composer himself.

This year’s edition will be special, thanks to a gala concert in honor of Maestro Agnieszka Duczmal, which will be preceded by a meet-and-greet with the conductor.

The concert will also feature the virtuosos of the Krakow Reed Trio: Marek Mleczko (oboe), Roman Widaszek (clarinet), and Paweł Solecki (bassoon), as well as Rafał Kleszcz—an outstanding clarinetist of the younger generation and winner of, among other awards, third prize at the 14th Michał Spisak International Music Competition. Eighty years after its Polish premiere, the chamber musicians will perform the Quartet for Oboe, Two Clarinets, and Bassoon by the festival’s patron. The AMADEUS Orchestra, conducted by Maestra, will perform another work by Spisak—Concertino—as well as the famous Enigma Variations, Op. 36, by Edward Elgar, one of Britain’s leading composers. To conclude the concert, the Krakow Reed Trio and the AMADEUS Orchestra, conducted by Maestra, will jointly perform Mikołaj Piotr Górecki’s *Forgotten Songs and Dances*, Op. 59
